The ChallengeAs part of its journey to become a World Class company, MetLife began to look intensively at the strength of its leadership pipeline and its ability to sustain leadership excellence in the diverse markets it serves. The Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP) was conceived, targeting top MBA Graduates from the world’s leading business schools to establish talent pool of next-generation MetLife leaders. Combining international job rotations and a fast-tracked career pathway, MetLife turned to Propel to craft a robust selection and assessment methodology to identify leadership capability and potential for long-term growth.

The SolutionBlending technology solutions and interactive assessment methodologies, Propel’s design included a multi-phased selection process. To manage the vast number of applicants to the program, an initial sifting solution combining customised Situational Judgment Tests with existing psychometric tools as part of a custom GLDP Talent Portal. The rich psychometric insights provided at the early stages allowed MetLife to confidently screen candidates and identify the top talent to proceed to a more intensive Business Simulation (Assessment Centre) event. Comprising a suite of custom business simulation exercises, short-listed candidates experienced a highly-realistic half-day event to recreate the challenges of a MetLife global leader.
