The International Psychology Conference (IPCD), Dubai is a unique forum where practitioners and applied professionals can meet to exchange ideas and discuss current hot topics in this discipline.
Propel International delivered two sessions on topical issues that are affecting many of our clients: Youth Employment and Happiness! |
Youth Employment – A global issue, a local issue
The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) have by far the highest youth unemployment rates in the world and the situation has continued to worsen since 2012. In a similar vein, the World Economic Forum Global Risks Survey 2016 revealed that among energy prices and fiscal crises, unemployment was cited as one of the top three business risks in the Middle East. One of the major factors cited as contributing to this trend is the gap between the skills taught in educational institutions and the actual needs of the labor market.
During the session, they explored the issues faced by young people along with the compounding factors and the role that practitioner psychologists can have in mitigating these issues.
