Propel's 2017 Highlights

2017 has been an exceptional year for Propel and our best to date, growing both financially and in size by around 35%. Our vision to become recognised as the highest quality talent management consultancy in the world has consistently been made more and more possible everyday thanks to the passion, engagement and expertise of our team, on both the consulting and operations side.

One of the biggest highlights of 2017 was to see Propel New Zealand established so quickly with one success story after another from the beginning. We reached a huge milestone with over 100,000 assessments carried out face to face, online and through our customized talent portals. We have also delivered assessment and development centers in 12 countries, including USA, Mexico, Japan, New Zealand, KSA, Singapore and UAE.

Propel Breakfast Club: Big Data

On March 29th, we will hold the first Propel Breakfast Club of 2018 where we will be debating the topic of People Analytics: How Can We Best Use Big Data for Talent Management? Our guest speaker Sarim Zahoor, a Senior Organisational Psychologist at ADNOC, will discuss his experience and research of Big Data, alongside some of Propel's top consultants. We will be exploring Big Data and its effects when used along with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development and Employee Engagement.

DAMAC Customised Talent Portal

DAMAC Properties:

Situation / Task:
As a rapidly growing organisation, DAMAC was interested in enhancing its assessment and selection processes by introducing best-in-class objective assessments across three different job levels.
 
Requirements: Valid, Cost Effective, Easy to Use

​Actions:
Propel met with key stakeholders to thoroughly understand what was required to be success at DAMAC at the Frontline, 1st Line Manager and Senior Manager level. We conducted a comprehensive assessment around the 3 most important areas of people performance: Capability, Style and Values. We then customized DAMAC Success Profiles assessing candidates across 3 key competencies: Managing Self, Managing People and Managing Tasks.

​We created a customised DAMAC talent assessment portal for the company’s talent acquisition team and managers to be able to easily and self-sufficiently manage the recruitment process of internal and external staff. It incorporated tools from multiple assessment providers such as a&dc’s Situational Judgement Test called ‘Dilemmas’ and is dynamic which means that other tools and assessment or development processes such as a 360 degree feedback tool can be added in the future.

The portal allowed for real time data management from an organizational perspective and was enriched by customised reporting designed for experts and non-experts alike.

  • Increased objectivity, consistency and quality of hire using predictive psychometric measures
  • Reduced employee turnover
  • Talent analytics through the portal provide insights into typical applicants, successful candidates and internal staff’s behaviour, stlye and values.

Meet Tara Cherniawski
Tell us about you
I'm one of the newest members to the Propel tribe, working in the role of Senior Consultant, hailing from both a consulting and in-house background. I'm English and I met my Canadian husband here in Dubai. We have two gorgeous little children who are a bundle of energy (and my mini case studies from a development perspective)!

What did you do before?
I came to Dubai 10 years ago as Group Director of Learning & Development for Jumeirah Group where I was responsible for the learning and growth of over 14,000 employees. My role focused on partnering with Senior Executives globally to define and drive learning strategies across the business that enabled the achievement of key business measures. Three years ago, I decided to move into talent consulting and among my many projects with direct clients, I actually worked with Propel as an associate as well as being a lecturer on one of the MA Human Resource Management programs here in Dubai, as well as providing Executive coaching and Coach Accreditation facilitator. 

​What keeps you busy at the moment? 
I am looking forward to managing some exciting projects coming up. One focus is for us to launch a high impact calendar of training programmes which clients can utilise to compliment their own in-house training provision in supporting their internal talent development. 
 

What is your biggest weakness? 
Excessive amounts of Starbucks coffee and retail therapy, remembering names, and my little boy endearingly asking me for just one more something ...
