PROPEL EXPANDS ITS GLOBAL FOOTPRINT WITH ADDITION OF AUSTRALIA!
Propel has landed in Australia and what a terrific welcome we have received! In reaching out to global clients, partners, associates, and friends, we are overwhelmed by the positive response.
Already two valued clients have engaged us to support their Australia operations. The first project for a major insurance company kicks off in Sydney mid-September. This involves a senior leader 360° assessment, and then training the HR team in how to provide 360 feedback. Another client, an iconic professional services company, is seeking our expertise in developing the identification and selection process for partner promotion and director development. Our Talent Portal is also sparking a great deal of interest. In true Propel style, the Australian team is composed of two experts and long-standing friends Antoine Honoré and Jon Hamer. Antoine has been partnering with global organisations assisting their assessment and development projects in Europe and in the Middle East for over a decade and most recently held the role of Global Business and Operations Director for Propel International in Dubai. |
Jon’s career has spanned 25 years in a variety of roles across numerous industries including aviation, logistics, travel and workforce transformation. He has assisted clients in large scale projects to identify, support and execute key objectives in talent management. Before launching Propel International in Australia, Jon was State Manager for one of Australia’s leading career transition and outplacement providers.
With offices in Melbourne and Brisbane, Propel will leverage its comprehensive local and international associate network of field specialists to deliver world class Talent Assessment programmes. |

PROPEL AROUND THE WORLD |
New Zealand
Propel New Zealand are often involved with facilitating Management Development Programmes, both in New Zealand and globally. A key theme that we see is that many managers have been promoted into a leadership role due to technical competence as an individual contributor. However, the identity shift that is needed, both around valuing management as a skill and getting results through others, is not often consciously made. A big part of this shift is mastering the art of delegation, not just giving direct reports a task, but treating this as a learning, development and coaching opportunity. A key focus of our longitudinal development programmes is understanding what delegation is (and what it is not) and equipping managers with practical skills to support them in getting better results through their team. UK A key focus for Propel UK over the last month has been supporting companies to identify talent. One of our clients, a global advisory firm, has recently used the Propel Talent Portal with custom reporting to assess over 300 Senior Leaders as part of their annual promotion process. The client already had a validated model of potential that they wanted to use, which meant the design process could focus on choosing the right online tools to assess the four potential areas: change, intellect, people and motivation. The online assessments are part of a 4-stage process to assess candidates for promotion, and the outputs from the online tools have a dual purpose: They provide robust data for the talent process, providing some objective data, and the reports are also being used to help participants create a development journey. This ensures that everyone gets the opportunity to accelerate their development through self-awareness even if they are not selected for promotion. If we were to take the selection of talent one stage further, we would recommend using the learning potential score from the Cognitive Process Profile tool. This would be an even greater, objective yet robust assessment of learning potential. It’s important to know who your key talent is in order to retain them and also to get them ready for future roles. |
Spain
We are currently supporting a professional services firm in attracting best-in-class Executives for their global arbitrage team. Our client first looked at its internal pipeline of potential candidates before turning to outsourced recruitment; one of their fears about hiring leaders externally is that such individuals will be ill-equipped to make an impact quickly and effectively. While it is acknowledged that junior staff and middle management absolutely need a proper induction when they join a company – an overview of its values, strategic direction, products & services, even everyday policies and processes – often times an in-depth assimilation for more senior professionals is overlooked or underestimated. Propel Spain provides this necessary support, beyond attraction and selection, for newly appointed leaders to hit the ground running by offering a tailor-made programmes of coaching and masterclasses, therefore positioning new Executives to integrate, contribute and perform as quickly as possible. Middle East Winning a Brandon Hall award for 'Best Advance in High Potential Development' for the work we have done in partnership with Zurich Insurance is definitely among the highlights for September. Another climax was having Zurich Insurance attest that the “initial results of the Assessment and Development Centre, designed and rolled-out in collaboration with Propel International, indicate higher retention of key talent and improved quality of succession plans”. On top of that, we managed to add a selection of reputable new clients to our partner network, including Publicis Groupe as well as the UAE Space Agency – to whom we offer our congratulations during this monumental time in history as the first Emirati astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori arrives at the International Space Station. Furthermore, we successfully completed two Focus Groups for our Propelinos programme and are on course for running the first pilot at the end of October. |
BECOME INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED IN SAVILLE WAVE AND SAVILLE APTITUDE THROUGH PROPEL COURSE OFFERING
On the 9th and 10th of September, Propel UAE organised the first Saville International Accreditation workshop in partnership with Saville Assessment, a Willis Towers Watson Company.
On both days, seventeen participants were led by Nikki Molloy, Saville Assessment’s consultant, in various activities which explored aspects of Saville Wave and Saville Aptitude in great detail. |
Judging by the level of enthusiasm from the participants, this event was a great success! Actions are already put in motion to make this workshop a regular L&D offering at Propel UAE, accessible to both external clients and internal Propellers. Congratulations to everyone who obtained their accreditation!

MEET A PROPELLER
Why are you passionate about Propel?
It is clear, as a new joiner to Propel, that our strengths lie in a unique combination of a brilliant consulting team, great partners and partner relationships, and a really strong technology offering. Additionally, Propel’s culture stands out: The whole team is focused on delivering and exceeding client expectations, resulting in exceptionally high levels of client retention. From a product development perspective, the strength and depth of these relationships will help support the creation of new solutions that can add real value to our clients globally. Propel’s growth trajectory, expanding global reach (combined with a deep local market knowledge), and unique offering, means that it is an incredibly exciting time to be joining the team! |
What pioneering project are you currently working on?
In these first few weeks at Propel, I am working with everyone across the business to identify opportunities to build on the great solutions that Propel currently offers. In particular, because Propel creates profiles that integrate data from multiple assessments, it is uniquely placed to deliver powerful reporting solutions that provide deep levels of insight into individual performance and potential, as well as providing organisational level analytics. Creating reports and dashboards to deliver this will be a key project for the coming months. What do you believe is the biggest challenge in talent management today? With so many new products, technology and solutions arriving in the talent assessment market, the supplier landscape is becoming increasingly complex. Additionally, whilst the arrival of exciting new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, provides opportunity, it also pushes the boundaries of knowledge required to evaluate the potential of these new solutions. Simultaneously, talent functions are under pressure to deliver value and demonstrate return on investment. With so many potential providers and possible solutions, it is challenging for talent teams to identify the solutions that are really going to address their organisational challenges. This is where Propel’s expertise and offering add enormous value. Because Propel can provide access to tools from multiple suppliers, and the team has the expertise to evaluate the evidence-base for different solutions, we are able to help support our Clients to pinpoint the right solutions for them. |
